Thandiswa Mazwai Named The Best Female Artist In Southern Africa. Our very own talented Thandiswa Mazwai shone at the fourth annual All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA this past Sunday. She was crowned the best female artist in Southern Africa. The audience also spoiled with a performance of her song Wakrazulwa from her Jazz tribute album, Belede.
The awards which celebrate African music were held in Lagos, Nigeria. Puting South Africa on the map was talented rapper Emtee. He was named the Best Male Artist in Southern Africa. The Manado hit maker’s win came at the expense of other popular South African artists including the veteran Hugh Masekela.
It was a night to remember for Nigerian Wizkid as he won three awards in the Artiste of the year; song of the year; and Best Male Artiste in West Africa categories. Music legends Oliver Mutikudzi (Zimbabwe) and Salif Keita (Mali) received an AFRIMA legendary Award each.
