AKA’s Mom Shares the One Thing She Would Change About Her Son’s Passing

AKA’s Mom Shares the One Thing She Would Change About Her Son’s Passing. It has been two years and some months since the untimely passing of Kiernan AKA Forbes, but his memory lives on. Nonetheless, everyday, we get to know more about the man that brought us hits, and a lively personality.

His mom Lynn Forbes recently did an interview on Ikigai Awakening Podcast. She sat down with Nerina Moodley, an author, transformational life coach and grief guide to explore her personal journey through grief and healing. Lynn opened up about her heart-wrenching experience of loss and how she has transformed that pain into a mission to empower others.

From the interview, one can tell that AKA and Lynn had a very close relationship. She revealed in the interview that the late rapper, encouraged her to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro, when she turned 50. When AKA died, more so looking at the manner of his passing, this broke Lynn. As much as she was going through the most, she had support from family, Nadia Nakai, DJ Zinhle, political leaders as well as the Megacy.

She also dealt with the loss by keeping busy with activities that included attending awards ceremonies where AKA was honored. Sadly for Lynn, she got to realize that this was not a way to deal with her loss. In public she appeared to be strong, but always cried herself to sleep after attending these events. Lynn now wants to be seen as this strong woman, because she is only a mom, who misses her child.

Lynn also feels that she wasn’t fully present for those who needed her during the time of grief. She was no longer the giving person she has always been, before AKA’s passing. Lynn couldn’t show up for some family members as she should have, because they too needed consolation.
