Job description

The producer role involves working with an in-house team to produce various projects of an exceptional standard to a variety of clients in studio, and on location, within budget and preset margins.

The producer is responsible for the pre-production, production and post-production of projects allocated to him/her.

The producer must manage multiple projects of various scales, simultaneously.

The producer is responsible for the final product and will be held accountable for the success or failure of a project.

Roles and responsibilities:

• The producer must manage the budget for specific projects and maintain specific margins.
• The producer must understand that only the highest level of production standards will be acceptable from the start.
• The role is a dynamic process, and responsibilities can shift in the process.
• Client liaison is essential to this role, either face-to-face, phone calls, or email.
• Producing high standard projects form pre-production through to post-production and delivery.
• It is expected that the producer is involved with the day-to-day workings, participating in activities such as screenwriting, set-design, casting, and even directing.
• Manages staff and day-to-day operations for the production.
• Ensure that staff are available for the production.
• Supervises the creative process of screenplay development.
• Involved in creating stories and writing script if necessary.
• Assist with script re-writes where needed.
• Responsible and manage staff schedules and arrange staff into teams.
• Source and selects areas to film (outside of a set) and coordinates production in the field.
• Responsible for raising orders for invoicing, and chasing payment.
• Responsible for controlling costs and reconciling jobs.
• Helps coordinate edit by working with the editor and relaying information from other role players.
• Supervises the overall post-production, including editing, dubbing and grading.
