Job Summary Murray & Roberts Projects invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Material Controller for the Kusile Project reporting to the Materials Manager. The project entails the building of 6 x 780 MW Coal Fired Super Critical Boiler for the coal fired Kusile Power Station to be erected at the Kusile Site at Mpumalanga ,Witbank, South Africa.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Control of materials, equipment, gear and consumables from receiving to final handover.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Control available resources to ensure schedules received are achieved. Control and authorize gear and material movements to maintain complete traceability. Control inventory and maintain re-order levels. Submit and complete relevant records, reports and documentation on time and accurately. Daily feedback and reporting on progress and material movements. Maintain preservation, housekeeping, maintenance and suppliers storage requirements. Ensure your team complies with safety standards set. Implement policies and procedures related to Materials Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Control, escort and guide delivery vehicles, trailers and equipment into the correct position for loading and off-loading to ensure the quickest turnaround time is achieved. Control resources to ensure material movement schedules are adhered to. Accurately control, document, verify, record and report all material movements on the required format / template from receiving to final handover. Report damages or short deliveries immediately. Conduct the required inspections before material handover. Control material returns, testing and color coding with updating relevant registers or locations. Schedule, drive and document cycle counts / stock takes with variances reported weekly. Effective use of scanners. Submit reports on time as and when required on the correct format / template used. Maintain reorder levels to ensure no out of stock situations occur. Investigate, update and report on variances within 24 hrs of incident, make necessary recommendations to resolve discrepancies. Maintain safety in your area of responsibility. Control material security and avoid loss of materials.
Key Requirements Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
At least 36 months experience in a Materials Control environment. Good knowledge of construction related materials, equipment and consumables. Good written and numerical skills. Supervisory experience – able to delegate tasks and follow through.
Education Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12. Qualification in Logistics or Materials Management or equivalent experience.
COMPETENCY PROFILE: Process implementation. Reporting skills. Record keeping skills. Client relationship. Very effective communication required with all clients. Resolving problem situations and effective decision making. Sound understanding of Construction Drawings.
ATTRIBUTES: Proactive self starter and confident. Energetic. Detailed. Good communicator. Professional. Computer literacy. Team player and works well under pressure. Be able to work overtime. Driving license – will be an advantage.
