Just a few months ago, we have seen the likes of Dineo Ranaka, Masechaba Khumalo, Oratile Maitisa, Toll Ass Mo and Mome Mahlangu share their journey to becoming sangomas.
A lot of people are not sold though, that some of these celebs indeed have the calling. They believe that some of these celebrities, claim to be Sangomas just for publicity, as it seems to be in fashion. A few years ago, outspoken media personality Scoop Makhathini called out some of these celebrities. He said they are only becoming Sangomas, because it is the latest trend.
Although they receive backlash, these celebs, are not about to back down, and they share their journeys with anyone who cares to see. Take for example Dineo, she has included her initiation journey on the Ranakas reality show, and viewers now get to see some of her most intimate moments to becoming a sangoma. Another celebrity who will definitely serve initiation content is Zodwa wa Bantu who just answered her calling.
The entertainer who made a name for herself by dancing and wearing skimpy clothes has shared a glimpse of her journey. She took to Instagram to post a picture going through the initiation process. Some people though were not impressed, saying the initiation is sacred and should be kept private and out of the spotlight. But hey, this is Zodwa wa Bantu we are talking about!
“CAMAGU,” Zodwa captioned her picture, which loosely translates “Thank you“, “Let it be so“, “I have heard“, or “I promise“.
