Thembi Seete’s Braids Take Us Back To Her Boom Shaka Days

Don’t call it a comeback, box braids never really left. Time and time again the classic, protective style continues to make itself known as a staple hairstyle for ladies. Box braids are the gift that keep on giving: a cute, and not too costly, protective style that can last two to three months with proper care. Back in the 90’s Thembi Seete and the late Lebo Mathosa of local pop sensation Boom Shaka were originators of box braids. This hairstyle caught on in many parts of the SA and was dubbed ‘Boom Shaka braids’.

It’s Thursday today and you know what that means . The gorgeous Thembi Seete gave us a very cute TBT today when she posted a picture of her new hairdo. She is rocking blonde box braids and she wrote , “Since it’s Thursday ??let me remind you were my hair journey started #BoomShakaBraids ?? still trending”.
