10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Dube Brothers
The Dube Brothers, made up of Mthokozisi (25), Sihle (23) and Buhle (17) are currently enjoying the success of their debut album “The Dube Brothers – Stepping Up” which came out end September 2013. The Dube Brothers has been introduced to us a rich, soulful innovative Gospel approach that attracts young and old, church and secular. Let’s take a look at the following 10 things you probably didn’t know about the Dube bros.
The Dube Brothers
1. The Dube Brothers are born to Pastor Benjamin Dube and Phindile Dube.
2. Mthokozisi “Mtho”; Sihle; and Buhle started to show interest in music at a tender age of 18, 15, and 9 respectively.
3. They had their first recording experience with their Father’s “Worship In His Presence” album, and were given another opportunity in the next one – “Healing In His Presence”, which launched them into stardom, creating a name and a market for themselves.
4. They then started to tour with their father’s outfit called “Healing Tour”, going places like Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho. The demand grew tremendously for them to record their own material.
5. The Dube Bros say they could have chosen any other genre, but chose gospel, not because their father sings it, but because it just felt right to sing gospel.
6. They say Gospel was ingrained in us since they were small. It’s something they grew up with, and their father never forced or expected them to sing it.
7. Sihle graduated with a degree in Branding and Communications, but he says for now pursuing a music career is his first priority.
8. Older brother Mthokozisi acknowledges the role their old man has played in their lives. Dube senior wrote two songs on the album – Who’s Right and Why, with the latter song also featuring on his own latest album.
9. Mthokozisi is a qualified sound engineer from the renowned Sound Engineering Academy in Johannesburg. He has already been involved in the production of both their and his father’s new album.
10. The youngest of the brothers, Buhle, is currently in Grade 12 at the National School of the Arts.
