Jessica Nkosi Addresses Misconceptions That She Should Be Like Her TV Character

Actress Jessica Nkosi, who plays Qondi on Isibaya, says she is nothing like her queen character on screen, and she wishes her fans would stop expecting her to behave like royalty.

Nkosi says there is a widespread misconception among fans of the Mzansi Magic telenovela, that she must behave like a demure queen – and it’s “sad,” because that’s not who she is.

“I got into the industry the first time as Qondi, but when I am Jessica many people get shocked and say they expect me to behave like my TV character. I guess it’s a downfall of being in a telenovela. Qondi is shy. I’m not shy,” she says.

“Ngiyaphapha [I’m too forward]. And most of the time people don’t believe me when they see this other side of me,” she says.

Nkosi has just signed on with a new talent management company Capacity Relations, which also manages Pearl Thusi.

She won’t reveal any details, but has a big project in the pipeline, which will be announced in a few weeks. Although her career is firmly on track, rumours that she is engaged to musician and Idols SAseason eight winner Khaya Mthethwa keep dogging her.
