A lot of people these days are caught up into the formalities of the world and to think of it, society can be really cruel especially when it becomes too the monotonous feel it has. I mean think about it, not everyone is meant to work in the corporate world. There are other fields that one can tap into and achieve their goals ; and also make it big.

Musicians and Artists
Here’s what you can do. Be on the lookout for Music competition, these types of competition often take place once or twice in a year and maybe three times. Competitions like Idols SA, Clash of the choirs, X-Factor etc. Also join a singing group or band. Consider starting yours as well. Just keep in mind, that it may take a while for you to be the next best singer to be reckoned with or you could be lucky and be an overnight sensation. If at first you don’t succeed, keep knocking at the door again. Eventually one will open up for you very soon.
Actors , Directors, Producers ( Scriptwriters)
We know you and we see you! You are that beast with lots of creative thoughts flowing and you just want to have a chance to share with the rest of South Africa and maybe the world. There are many ways you can follow when you want to break into this type of industry. The most known is through formal education. You can enroll for a course at any college that offers filming and TV production. The other would be to DYI (Do it Yourself). Find people who are also interested in this field and create a movie or drama together. If you like acting , this will be good for you and it will open many doors in the future.
Models or Talent Agencies
First, you need to join an agency (For models). They will help you in becoming a professional model and they will find you modelling gigs. If you like doing things on your own, find a photo studio, where you can take photos for your portfolio. It doesn’t end here though, you need to sell yourself and become your own agent. If you like beauty pageants, then you can enter the Miss South Africa beauty pageant or one in your Community, School or College.
Fashionistaz ( Fashion Designers)
This is for all the fashion gurus out there. You probably have just finished a course on fashion designing and you want to show South Africa what you best at. Your designs and yes, fashion makes a lot of people go ga-ga. You can look for employment or you can just open your own fashion store/ label. Where you can have the freedom to showcase your designs and sell them in the best you can. Note that celebrities (artists, musicians, models) will likely be interested in your designs and they can hire you to design for them on a full time basis.
Radio Dj or (Producer)
Radio is fun and you can get paid for it, too. Plus, there’s a certain amount of “Fame” attached to being on-the-air. There are three basic steps to a career in broadcasting: a college degree from a University that has a major in Radio and/or TV, a broadcasting school, or the cheap, old fashioned way: interning. You can also go for audition opportunities that you come across. Always be on a lookout for these auditions and don’t let them pass you.
