10 Things You Didn’t Know About David Kau
Apart from being known to have a funny bone… make that all the bones in his body, this comedian is also known for being the Head Principal judge on the “So You Think You’re Funny” comedy talent show as well as being the Producer and Host of the “Blacks Only Comedy show”. 1. David was born in the small town of Kroonstad in the Free State
2. He matriculated from Meridian College, Pretoria, in 1994
3. He graduated at the end of 1998 with a Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town
4. David was discovered at the Smirnoff International Comedy festival at The Baxter theatre in Cape Town, October 1998 and was the first time he ever performed as a stand-up comedian
5. He first gained mainstream exposure through the television comedy series “The Pure Monate Show” – which he co-created and produced – in 2003
6. David has a Non-Profit Organisation, “111 Kau Foundation”, which puts children from his hometown through school and helps feed and clothe kids at Dimphonyana Tsa Lapeng orphanage in Midrand
7. He co-created and hosts the stand-up comedy show “Blacks Only”
8. In 2008 he was the recipient of the inaugural Mzansi Star Comedian award at the first annual Stars of Mzansi Awards
9. David directed and produced his 1st film, “Taxi Ride” which premiered on Mzansi Magic on April 2nd, 2012
