Vacancy: Shop Assistant

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To ensure that stock, service levels and sales are maintained in the front shop. Has to maintain service levels and compliance in terms of Standard Operating Procedures. Must be creative in terms of promotions, however within the parameters of the promotion directives and company policy.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

 MANAGEMENT OF STOCK

  • Ordering of stock
  • In conjunction with the host store that stock levels for categories 8320 & 8321 is ordered.
  • The Fronts shop Assistant is to request the Store Manager to pull the relevant catalogue.
  • The Front Shop Assistant is to then in consultation with the Store Management and Pharmacy Manager identify the stock to be ordered.
  • The Front Shop Assistant must follow-up with suppliers on the on the orders placed and keep both Store Management and the Pharmacy Manager informed of the progress.
  • Report out of stock on BI Portal.

RECEIVING OF STOCK

  • Unpack stock as received
  • Check that correct stock is received.
  • That incorrect and damaged stock is returned.
  • Check expiry dates on stock received.
  • Handle credits and return of stock.
  • Ensure that stock is moved to the shop floor.
  • Ensure rotation of stock.
  • Apply first in first out principle.

STOCK TAKE

  • Participate in stock takes in the front shop.
  • Ensure regular stock takes are conducted as directed.

EXPIRED STOCK

  • Handle expired stock as per Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Handle returns in terms of stock, in particular stock to be returned to Distribution Centre / Warehouse in terms of Standard Operating Procedure.

MERCHANDISING OF STOCK

  • Merchandising
  • Identify areas to place stock for categories 8320 & 8321.
  • Merchandise stock

PROMOTIONS

  • Handle promotions for products.
  • Ensure that promotion prices are correct prior to promotion launch.
  • Report errors to Buying department and or log incident on Remedy.
  • Ensure that correct PI labels are displayed.
  • Arrange with suppliers for promotions.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Ensure that superior of customer service levels are maintained in the Front Shop area.

FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS, JOB REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12
  • Basic Computer literacy
  • 1 Year experience in retail industry in particular in dealing with customers
  • 1 Year merchandising experience and knowledge of the ordering processes of retail stores
  • Basic Product Knowledge of cosmetics and able to advise clients on different cosmetic brands and products
  • Good Communication Skills
