How To Use A Female Condom

There is no excuse for man to be the only ones that wear condoms during sexual intercourse, because women also have female condoms specially designed for them. The condoms entirely line the vagina to prevent pregnancy, STDs as the male condom does. Female condoms aren’t popular in our society, the reason could be that a lot of ladies don’t know how they are used.

Types of female condoms

  • FC2 – is a 17cm pouch in the length. Each end has a flexible ring. There is a silicone-based lubricant in the condom, but an additional lubricant can be used. The condom does not contain a contraceptive substance that destroys sperms.
  • The VA – is made out of latex. It is 9cm and is shorter than the FC2. It has a rounded triangular frame and a sponge inside the closed, which helps to anchor it in the vagina. The condom also contains no contraceptive substance that destroys sperms. Oil-based lubricants shouldn’t be used with this condom because they can damage the latex. It is still under revision.
  • PATH’s woman’s condom – is almost the same design as the VA but is held together by a rounded cap which dissolves once it is put in place, in order to make insertion easier. It is not yet approved.
  • The Cupid Condom – has been approved and is already accessible in South Africa.
