“Your Timing Is Wrong,” Tweeps Come for Lebo Mashile After Her Tribute to Connie Chiume. On Tuesday, South Africa received the devastating news of Connie Chiume‘s passing. The legendary actress passed away at the age of 72, at Garden City Hospital. The family did not reveal much details regarding her passing, but rather asked for privacy during this difficult period.
Mam’ Connie’s death has touched many people locally and abroad. She is one entertainer the masses grew up watching on TV. She was known for her roles in films like 2018’s Black Panther, Black is King and Blessers. The international award winning actresses has also been on many shows on TV. Among those are SABC1’s Zone 14 to e.tv’s Rhythm City and Gomora on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161).
Her peers, fans and loved ones are posting heartfelt tributes on various social media platforms. One such is poet and TV personality, Lebo Mashile. On her tribute she spoke about Mam’ Connie being an icon, born of a South African mom and Malawian father. Lebo then said, no one can question her identity, contribution or right to represent the country with her work.

The post was not received well by many of Lebo’s followers. They feel she is using Mam’ Connie’s death on an irrelevant topic. Some feel she has a point, but he timing is off.
