Pics! Thuso Mbedu Chases Summer in Abu Dhabi. After a movie as big and successful as The Woman King, one definitely needs to unwind. This is what Thuso Mbedu, who played lead on the movie is doing.
The Woman King was released on the 16th September 2022. Since then it has been received well around the world, with the lead actress Viola Davis receiving a Grammy nod. The storyline is based on historical true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries. The film which was shot in South Africa also stars John Boyega and Lashana Lynch.
Thuso, plays Nawi an ambitious recruit who fights within the all-female military unit lead by Nanisca, (played by Viola). Over the past weeks, the multi-award winning actress traveled the world promoting the film. The Woman King premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival on September 9, 2022, where Thuso, Viola and other stars attended. Thuso was also at the premier of the film here in South Africa together with Boyega.
It goes without saying that after all this she needed a serious vacation. Thuso chose Abu Dhabi, the capital and second-most populous city (after Dubai) of the United Arab Emirates, to go unwind. Among the activities she did in her week’s stay there was watching the Formula 1 race, taking on sand dunes, and having fun in the water.
