What inspired the name Deeptalks?
My family , music, and His grace
What drew you to music?
I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED SINGING AND DANCING SINCE I WAS A CHILD, NOTHING REALLY DREW ME INTO SINGING.I KNEW I WAS GOING TO B A MUSICIAN when i was young…i remember way back in the late 90′s i will come back from school with my bag and school uniform still on and head straight to the front room, that’s where you will find the cassette player, hook it up to my headphones hoping not to disturb anyone then do what i do best, sometimes my uncle comes back from work to pick something up quick, and i will still be on my headphones and he will be screaming my name out turn the music off, …..All you know is agalagala ….i never gave up my dream till now and it has made me who i am today.
Who did you look up to growing up?
Growing up back home was tough..I will say I did luck that kind of parental bond a child should have from their parents till they get to their teen years. My younger brother and I had to learn it the hard way since my parents had to travel somewhere else for greener pastures.
So you can imagine our hearts were in tatters, no hope at that point in time. Personally I will not say I had a role model at that period of time. God was the only one I did look Up to.
How would you describe your childhood?
I never experienced that parental bond like i said in question 4, that love and affection between a child and a parent, till i got to my 20′s and even that… its not every time you get to see them, because everyone is busy here in the UK All i will say is I am really proud of myself for standing firm all those years.
What were some of the challenges you faced before getting your first break?
Honestly I do not pay any sort of attention to critics; the more haters criticize the more i grow.I am always ready for the unusual obstacles.. You know is all about whom you know, politics. Even though musicians wrestle everywhere I will love to see all musicians coming together as one, it does not matter what genre you do, respect is the key and lets support each other, because to be creative is a gift and not a curse.
Tell us your new release Pieces of me?
Fre me (Call me) is a single on its own. This track was produced and written by myself.
Its a love song, Fre me means call me
the song speaks for itself….i wrote this song specially for everyone in love, those at the edge of their relationship and for all looking for love.
What inspired the project?( Pieces of me?)
What really inspires me is my family, music ,positive feedback from my fans and His words of wisdom.
You are now based in the UK, How different is the UK music Industry to the Ghana music industry?
Obviously that will be a different ball game altogether. There are lots Ghanaian and Nigerian Artist doing quiet awesome in the music industry here, and also with this new azonto fever everywhere… musically put us on the map…but i personally think we still got a long way to go if musicians in Africa specifically Ghana can humble themselves in order to see the flies that surround their head we can be on top of our game.
What do you think makes you stand out as an artist?
Me being versatile.
What can we expect from DEEPTALKS in the future?
MY fans should expect more singles featuring most popular names in the music industry.
What are some of the challenges you think are faced by African youth and how can these be addressed?
Unemployment, luck of Education, Sexual transmitted diseases such as HIV and child maltreatment.
I will like to elaborate more on Child maltreatment because i for instance was a victim and i manged to turn my life around for good. therefore if i can do it you can also do it.
Child maltreating is a big problem that can have long effect on victim.most times these victims are the vulnerable children leaving with so called family relatives, family friends it could be any elderly person taking care of children,if you are one of those who physical and emotional cause ill- treatment to children then you better take heath to these words of my STOP IT BECAUSE THEY ARE REAL HUMANS JUST LIKE YOU.The children is our future.
To prevent this there should be common understanding , educating every adults, parents on child maltreatment, helping of vulnerable children by setting up a playing group community for them to share anything troubling the children, last but not the least the Government should take necessary action on child maltreatment cases.
What advice would you give to upcoming musicians?
Do their home work well, stay focus and always rely on God.
What keeps you going?
Family and music.
