Requirements

  • An S4 Diploma in the related field, or successfully completed S4 course requirements in the related field, but with in-service training still outstanding
  • A valid Code B driver#s licence
  • Residence in the Cape Metropole

Key Performance Areas

The City of Cape Town (Electricity Services) has one-year contractual positions for Learner Technicians who have obtained their S4 Diploma or have completed all the course requirements of the S4 Diploma but require in-service training to graduate in the following disciplines:

  • Protection (HV & MV Field Services; Projects Design and Settings; Performance Audit)
  • Telecommunication (Operate and Maintain Optic Fibre Network and Multiplexers; Telephone Exchanges and Cables; Wide and Local Area Network; Radios and Microwave)
  • Measurement (Laboratory; Automation; Quality; Operations; Construction and Investigations)
  • Distribution (Maintenance and Construction of Medium-voltage (11kV) and Low-voltage Distribution System)
  • Quality of Supply (Install, Repair and Maintenance of Power Quality Monitoring Instruments and Systems)
  • High-voltage Cables (66kV) (Operate and Maintain Support Systems, Technology and Resources)
  • High-voltage Substations (66kV) (Operate and Maintain Support Systems, Technology and Resources)
  • High-voltage Overheads (66kV) (Operate and Maintain Support Systems, Technology and Resources)
