YOUNG PEOPLE TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2012

The Soweto Uprising, also known as June 16, was a series of high school student-led protests in South Africa that began on the morning of June 16, 1976. Students protested in the streets of Soweto in response to the introduction of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in local schools. Roughly 176 people were killed, and today we celebrate them

We believe the youth of today are also making their mark and should be celebrated. On that point we decided to make a list of young people, who are inspiring, intelligent, successful, motivational and funny, the is more to come from these guys.

These are the people you should look out for in 2012:

 

LINDIWE MAZIBUKO

Lindiwe Mazibuko

Lindiwe Mazibuko is a politician, and the Parliamentary Leader for the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA). She is the country’s fourth youngest parliamentarian

LUDWICK MARISHANE

Ludwick-Marishane

Ludwick Marishane is 21 years old. He was named the 2011 Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2011 GSEA (Global Student Entrepreneur Awards), Ludwick won the title for his product Dry bath, and the only non-water based bath substitute lotion for the whole body

RONALD LAMOLA

Lamola

Ronald Lamola is the former Deputy President of the ANC Youth League. He is currently the Acting League President. He joined the ANC Youth League at the age of 14

JORDAN RIDGE

Jordan Ridge ’11 has been honoured as a winner of the Google Zeitgeist Young Mind video contest for her missionary and social entrepreneur work in South Africa.

 

ONTLAMETSE PHALATSE

12-year-old Ontlametse Phalatse, is the first black child to be diagnosed with the aging disease progeria, a rare and fatal genetic condition that rushes up her aging process. We believe she is inspirational and we love her positive attitude and believe she has for herself.

Zizo Beda is a former Miss SA teen and television presenter best known for hosting the SABC1 music show Selimathunzi. Zizo believes that it is important to live life, so that you don’t look back with regret.

MUSA MTHOMBENI

Musa Mthombeni’s dream started at the age of 10, he has been a YOTV presenter for over 9 years. He has now joined YFM. He is currently a 4th year medical student at University of the Witwatersrand.

AB CRAZY

Tumelo Dibakwane better known as AB Crazy, a 23 year old hip-hop artist and producer is climbing the ladder to fame. A video that he released called Man of the Moment gained a lot of fame.

PEARL THUSI

Pearl Thusi is a South African television presenter, model and actress best known for co-presenting the kid’s show iCrew on SABC3.  She has now joined The Real Goboza as a co-host.

SIFISO NHLAPO

Sifiso is a professional Bmx Racer; he has qualified again for the 2012 London Olympic Games. Despite his disappointment at missing out on a podium finish at the BMX World Championships.

CELESTE KHUMALO

Celeste Khumalo, 18, was crowned Miss SA Teen 2011. She is not only a beauty an ambition young woman, who would like to become a media Mogul.

THE SOIL

The soil is the musical group consisting of three members that does accapella music; and is flexible with a band and programmed beats.

AMO CHIDI

The new Rhythm City actress Amo Chidi, 22, who plays the role of Reneilwe, Mamokete’s niece, a singer dancer is definitely a force to be reckoned with.  She has spent 2 years in The Netherlands performing The African Mamas Sing Mama Africa a tribute to Mariam Makeba.

AKA is one of the most talented rappers in the country. He is great at producing beats and putting lyrics to them as well, SAMA and Channel O winner who have really shown that he deserves the fame.

TALL ASS MO

Tall Ass Mo has made a huge impact on the local comedy industry. He has become one South Africa’s well known comedians within a short space of time. He was nominated in the “Best Newcomer” category at the first comic awards 2011.
