Job Overview

The Light Duty Driver is responsible for transporting goods and passengers using company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. You will conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness before and after use. The role includes loading and offloading goods, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and following strict road safety regulations. You will communicate with supervisors regarding routes, schedules and delivery updates. Accurate record keeping for mileage, fuel usage and vehicle condition is required. This role demands responsibility, attention to detail and consistent professionalism on the road.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate light duty company vehicles for deliveries and transport tasks
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily
• Follow all traffic laws and road safety regulations at all times
• Load and unload goods safely and securely
• Maintain cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle
• Communicate with supervisors regarding routes and instructions
• Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel usage and trips
• Report mechanical issues or incidents immediately
• Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to assigned destinations
• Assist with general dealership transport and logistics needs
• Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with staff or clients
• Support operational requirements within the dealership when needed

Requirements And Skills

• Valid South African driver’s license for light motor vehicles
• Clean driving record with no serious violations
• Previous driving experience preferred
• Good knowledge of Johannesburg and surrounding routes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately
• Responsible, punctual and safety focused mindset
• Basic record keeping and reporting ability
• Professional attitude and customer service approach
• Ability to handle loading and unloading tasks when required
