Opinion
Billion Stars by Tiyani Mabasa

I whisper with a sigh
Should I compare her with stars?
I bear scars of absence
Hear my screams of agony
Oh her kindness
She responds to maternity
Have I ever seen love like this one?
Which has grazed me so
Prevented me from ill behaviour
That makes me loathe age
A billion stars in the sky
And one in our living room
Even the brightest galaxies have not seen To whom I call mother
Poem dedicated to Tiyani’s mother who is a cancer survivor and to everyone that has been affected or are effected by this disease.
