Sad Note: Comedian Ebenhaezer Dibakwane Passes Away. It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Ebenhaezer Dibakwane. The multi-award winning comedian, TV personality, writer and actor passed away on Friday 7th March, aged 31 years.
Eb, as he was affectionately called, was very well known in the industry as a stand-up comedian. His stand-up comedy highlights included opening for award-winning comedian Dillan Oliphant at his first one-man show, Oliphant in the Room; being part of the Stand Up 4 Comedy ensemble alongside Gavin Kelly, Virgil Prins and Mo Mothebe, being billed as part of the line-up of the Comedy Central International Comedy Festival alongside Trevor Noah, Aries Spears, Jeff Ross, Hannibal Buress, Marc Lottering, Basketmouth, Carl Joshua Ncube, Eugene Khoza, Tats Nkonzo among a whole lot more.
He made his mark in the industry, when he won the 6th annual Savanna Comics’ Choice Newcomer of The Year Award. He subsequently won a second Savanna Comics’ Choice Award for Intermediate Comedian of The Year. Eb was also recognized for his writing skills when he was nominated for a SAFTA for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting.
As an actor, Eb made his television acting debut when he guest starred as a film crew director in the e.tv soapie Ashes to Ashes in 2015. He has also showed his acting skills on shows such as Divorced at 50, Real Estate Sisters and Miseducation. In 2016 he bagged himself a presenting gig on the SABC1 show Walala Wasala.
