ICYMI! Check Out How Masasa Mbangeni Bagged Her Role On Scandal! Thembeka Shezi will go down in history as one of the best characters we have ever had on TV. She was played by a very talented actress Masasa Mbangeni.

Many would love to know how Masasa bagged the award winning character. Masasa was at the right place at the right when the Scandal! producers saw her. She was doing a monologue at a colored museum about a girl who gives birth to an egg. A producer from Scandal! then called her a few days later and she was told she will start working the following week.

The interesting part is that she didn’t start off playing Thembeka, a character most love to hate. She was a featured extra until she got the phenomenal character of Thembeka. Check out this throwback Afternoon Express interview, in which Masasa spoke about her journey to bagging the role.

Sadly we wont be seeing Thembeka again, as she was murdered by her rival Mthunzi Mayisa. Nonetheless, we will always remember her as one of the phenomenal characters to ever grace our screens.
