Jo-Ann Strauss Sings Her Mom’s Praises In A Heartfelt Shout Out. Sometimes we don’t need to wait for special occasions to celebrate loved one. This is exactly what Jo-Anne Strauss did, with her random post about her dear mom.
While others are waiting for Sunday, to celebrate their moms, Jo-Ann decided to be a few days early. The former Miss South Africa, TV personality and businesswoman spoke about how very well, she and her late brother Heinrich Strauss were raised. She takes their upbringing as privileged, more so since there are a lot of toxic parents around.
Yea, Jo-Ann admits that there have been some sad experiences in the family, including her brother’s passing and mother’s dementia. Nonetheless, the family always finds ways to pull through because of the love they have for each other.
“As we head into Mother’s Day celebrations, I want to take this moment to honour my mother, our mother. My brother and I grew up under the wings of this wonder woman. A true fighter in every sense. A maverick. A maven. A moedertjie vol moed.],” Jo-Anne said.
Jo-Anne also shared that he mom got married when she was just 21 years. She then became a mother soon after and raised her kids with such grace, love and happiness.
“Heinrich and I always said we grew up with the greatest privilege and that’s the unconditional love of two beautiful humans who love each other so much, despite the obstacles bestowed. Yes, there have been tragedies. My mom’s dementia for the past 9 years and my brother’s passing have brought us to our knees. But while on our knees, we pray for strength and give thanks for all our blessings. One of our greatest gifts being of course to call her our mom. Elizabeth Ingrid (Liz) Strauss (neé Solomons).
