Omega Circle Releases Soul-Stirring Gospel EP Honoring Mother’s Memory

South African gospel group Omega Circle has unveiled a deeply personal new EP, “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a project born from grief, reflection, and unwavering faith.

The EP is a heartfelt exploration of loss — specifically, the enduring impact of losing a mother — and how faith in God can guide one through life’s most challenging moments. For the songwriter behind the project, this year marks 20 years since his mother’s passing, a milestone that became the inspiration for the music.

“Losing a mother is perhaps one of the hardest things anyone can go through,” the group shares. “It shakes your foundation and challenges your trust in the world. But in that emptiness, I learned to lean on God, trusting Him to lead me forward.”

The theme of trust is central to the EP, encapsulated in the repeated phrase “Ndithembe kuwe,” meaning “I trust in You.” These words thread through the project, anchoring its songs in a message of faith and surrender.

The idea for the EP came unexpectedly. One February morning, feeling uninspired and lost, the songwriter was struck by the realization that two decades had passed since his mother’s death. That moment sparked a wave of creativity, inspiring him to write the songs he imagines he and his mother might have sung together — perhaps even with the grandchildren she never met.

The writing process was deeply personal. Some songs came in the quiet of the early morning, others in unplanned, reflective moments throughout the day. Every track was written specifically for this EP, with one exception: a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which opens the project and sets the tone for the spiritual journey ahead.

“This EP is an ode to a first love — the woman who taught me how to love myself and how to love God,” the group explains. “Worship music becomes a bridge, connecting us to memories and a warmth we can no longer physically experience.”

“Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” invites listeners into a moving worship experience, transforming grief into praise and memory into music.

The EP is now available on all major streaming platforms:
