Sales Assistant (Contract) Opportunity at Birkenstock Hyde Park

Ares Holdings is recruiting a seasonal Sales Assistant for the Birkenstock store in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. This contract role is open until 1 December 2025 and offers hands-on retail experience in a customer focused environment. The position is suited to individuals who enjoy selling, working with people, and supporting daily store operations.

Customer Service and Sales
You will greet every customer within 30 seconds. You will follow Birkenstock service procedures to understand customer needs and explain product benefits with accuracy. You will close sales and drive add on purchases when possible. You will invite customers to return and build loyalty for the brand. You will monitor your sales against your daily target to stay on track.
Inventory Management
You will refill footwear, apparel and accessories each day. You will reduce shrinkage by zoning the store and applying the changing room policy. You will ensure all stock entries in the POS system are correct. You will process deliveries by checking quantities, verifying invoices, tagging and hanging products, and capturing them in the system. You will manage customer orders when required.
Daily Store Operations
You will maintain housekeeping standards. This includes dusting, cleaning mirrors, vacuuming, emptying bins, clearing counters and keeping change rooms tidy. You will assist the manager with opening and closing the store.
Training and Growth
You will take responsibility for your training. You will work with a buddy at the start of your contract. You will attend quarterly training sessions and complete assessments. You will receive monthly feedback from your manager. You will schedule a monthly meeting with your manager to review your Birkenstock rookie pack progress. Your training results will influence your eligibility for future promotions.
Merchandising
You will observe the store and maintain product displays. You will ensure sizes are always replenished. You will help the team update windows and mannequins every two weeks. You will handle POS materials with care and store them correctly.
Minimum Requirements
You need Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification. You need at least six months of customer service experience. Birkenstock product knowledge is an advantage. You must be able to work flexible shifts.
