Caster Semenya Takes IAAF To Court
Caster Semenya Takes IAAF To Court. With the whole country rallying behind her, this is going to be an interesting case. Caster Semenya will challenge the IAAF’s rule change on testosterone levels in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
The World and Olympic 800m champion said in a statement, “I am very upset that I have been pushed into the public spot light again. I don’t like talking about this new rule. I just want to run naturally, the way I was born. It is not fair that I am told I must change. It is not fair that people question who I am. I am Mokgadi Caster Semenya. I am a woman and I am fast.”
The IAAF earlier this year made the rule change, which states that any athlete who is determined to have a difference of sexual development, which means a testosterone level of five nanomoles per litre or higher and is androgen-sensitive, must meet a set of criteria to compete. The laws which comes into effect in November only apply to middle distances races which include those Caster competes in.
