Oscar Pistorius Gets An Extended Sentence. When everything was reduced this Black Friday, it wasn’t the case with former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius. The Supreme Court of Appeal increased Oscar Pistorius’s sentence from six to thirteen years and five months.

Blade Runner could have been sentenced to 15 years, but the SCA took into account the time he had already served. The former paralympic hero shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s day in 2013. He fired four shots through a bathroom door, claiming that he believed there was an intruder in the bathroom.

Initially Pistorius was handed down a six-year jail term for murder. The State petitioned the SCA directly, arguing that the six-year sentence was far too lenient.
