Former SA Idols Contestants Doing Great In The Industry. It is quite heartwarming to see some contestants of SA Idols competition making a mark in our entertainment industry. The following are only a few of Idols contestants who used the platform to grow their music.
Amanda Black
Amanda Black is by far one of the most outstanding contestants that Idols SA has ever had. This year she walked away with two awards at the Metro FM Music Awards in February and three awards at the SAMAs in January. She has also been nominated for a BET award. Her album Amazulu went platinum in three weeks of its release late 2016.
Musa Sukwene
Musa Sukwene is also undoubtedly one of the biggest names to come out of singing competition Idols SA. Following the great success of his hit, Mthande, which he collaborated with Robbie Malinga on, Musa has become a household name. The 2013 Idols SA winner, has recently released his video for his follow up single Nomkhita.
Kyle Deutsch
Although he did not win SA Idols back in 2014, singer Kyle Deutsch did not let that stop him from getting his name out there. Kyle has a gold selling single, a MAMA’s nomination, His new single Lonely Fool in which he is collaborating with Kelly Khumalo is getting massive air play.
Shekhinah
Shekhinah was among the Top 32 of MNET’s Season 7 of SA Idols in 2011 and also finished in the Top 6 of MNET’s Season 8 of SA Idols in 2012. She has become a sought after artist who has had hits with big names such Black Coffee and the next big name she is working with is American superstar Jason Derulo.
Khaya Mthethwa
He won the 8th season of Idols South Africa and was the first black person to have done so. Khaya can sing gospel, pop, jazz and R&B, and he is a self-taught musician who can play a keyboard, guitar, drums and percussion. He is also a songwriter, and wrote most of the songs in his debut album, For You. In 2014 he released a live DVD recording titled The Uprising.
