| Job Description | Do you have a tertiary qualification in journalism? Do you have a burning desire to work in the media industry and would you like to kick off your career in one of the largest media players in Africa? Then Media24 is the place for you! We are looking for dynamic and energetic graduates with strong journalistic skills to join our Graduates in Media Programme on a one-year internship contract. The positions will be based in our Digital Publishing, News and Lifestyle (magazines) divisions in Cape Town and Johannesburg. You should demonstrate curiosity, have a keen news sense and drive your own learning and career. |

| Minimum Requirements | A tertiary qualification in journalism, and proven ability to produce relevant, compelling and factually correct news and/or feature content for a particular brand to deadline. The candidate must have knowledge of the South African Press Code. |

| Skills & Competencies | You should have a strong news sense and multi-tasking abilities, be able to work fast and adapt your work to either digital or print requirements. You must have either strong English or Afrikaans language abilities, both written and verbal. You should have a strong general knowledge and advanced digital literacy, including a good understanding of social media. You must be able to produce content to deadline that is reliable, accurate and adheres to the quality and style standards of a publishing platform. You need to be able to survive and thrive in the rough and tumble of the organisation, adapt to different situations and solve problems. You need to be resilient and able to withstand criticism in a pressured workplace. |
| Jy moet ’n sterk aanvoeling vir nuus hê, vinnig kan werk en jou werk by hetsy aanlyn- of drukmediavereistes kan aanpas. Jy moet oor sterk skriftelike sowel as mondelinge taalvermoëns beskik, hetsy in Afrikaans of Engels. Jy moet ’n breë algemene kennis hê en oor gevorderde digitale geletterdheid beskik. Jy moet binne die spertyd inhoud kan lewer wat betroubaar en akkuraat is, en aan die kwaliteit- en stylstandaarde van ’n publikasie voldoen. Verder moet jy die dinamiese en veranderende aard van die besigheid kan hanteer en in so ’n omgewing floreer, by verskillende situasies kan aanpas en probleme kan oplos. Jy moet taai wees en kritiek in ’n druk werkplek kan hanteer. | |
| Duties & Responsibilities | These positions will provide graduates with an entrance into the workplace in the rapidly changing world of Media24, with posts in either our digital publishing businesses (such as News24 or Netwerk24); lifestyle division (on our many magazines); or news division (on our English and Afrikaans newspapers). You are required to develop good contacts, generate story ideas appropriate to a target market and do research and interviews. |
