Gareth Cliff Gets His Job Back: He Will Be the Rejoining The New Season Of Idols!
Local broadcaster M-Net decided to part ways with him after he commented that people don’t understand freedom of speech at the height of the uproar over a racist post by former realtor Penny Sparrow. Following this, Gareth went on to sue M-Net for R25-million for wrongful dismissal and defamation of character. With no intentions to back down, Gareth Cliff proceeded to court this morning to find out his fate. That was whether he will or not rejoin the new season of Idols.
It seems lady luck is on his side now, Gareth Cliff will be rejoining the new season of Idols. Which means that he will be reinstated as Idols SA judge with immediate effect. The axed Idols judge won a mammoth lawsuit against M-Net, apparently hours before the first auditions for the show were due to start.
The celebrity won his bid to be reinstated as a judge of the popular talent scouting show, Judge Caroline Nicholls ruled in the High Court in Johannesburg.”This is a contractual dispute.”
The contractual relationship has to be reinstated to what it was. M-Net will pay costs to Gareth Cliff,” Nicholls told a packed court.Cliff, dressed smartly in a dark suit, smiled as the ruling, which lasted four minutes, was read out.
Gareth took to twitter after and thanked his ‘amazing team’ for helping him win the case. Check out the tweet below….
