Tumi Masemola Talks Solo Career- And Tells Us More About Her New Single “Sugar Free”
Singer, actress and business Tumi Masemola recently spoke about her new found solo career which has seen the release of her first single ft. Nakia Nakai titled Sugar Free. The single aims at encouraging woman to look after themselves and be themselves and not depend on sugar daddies.
Tumi Masemola is a celebrated actress, singer, TV producer and businesswoman, popularly known for playing Letisha in the television sitcom ‘City Ses’la’ and ‘Ses’top La’. Born and raised in Diepkloof, Soweto, Masemola is also known as Lady Naturelle, lead singer in the urban pop group GI (Gang of Instrumentals).
“There comes a time in your life as a musician, where I felt like in the band I have a certain role that I play but there’s still so much that I want to say and there’s still so much that I want to do as a woman on my own. Especially in an industry where it’s mostly male dominated and I’m in a group with two males. So to be a girl own my own was just the move”, Tumi explains why she went solo.
She admits that the music industry is very demanding. She says versatility and dynamism is very important and she learnt that with the boys and it’s working for her now as a solo artist.
