SABC News Correspondent Mugged On Live TV

SABC news contributor Vuyo Mvoko and his crew were mugged yesterday evening outside of Milpark Hospital while live crossing for the 7pm news and the whole incident was caught on camera.

The incident happened whilst Vuyo was reporting on the arrival of Zambian President Edgar Lungu at Milpark Hospital.

The mugging seems like it was an opportunistic crime as the robbers went past the reporter and then came back to attack him. Their faces were full on camera and they didn’t realize it was live crossing, which makes them easily identified.

The thieves are clearly heard saying “dubula lenja” when Vuyo refused to give them his phone.They managed to take three phones and a laptop from Vuyo and his colleagues.

In return to the studio Vuyo Mvoko said they were still in shock but no one was hammed and the police were already on the scene.
