Rebecca Malope is a gospel star and known as the ‘South African Queen of Gospel’. Her albums have won her South African many SAMA awards. Till today she is still going stronger, she has her own gospel show. Here are the top 10 you don’t know about her.

1) She was born in Lekazi in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga

2) She has released 34 albums in a career of 29 years

3) In 2003 she won the KORA All African Music Award for the Best Gospel Singer

4) At an early age she was confined to a wheelchair after an illness and for a time doctors said she could never walk

5) In 1986 she and her sister Cynthia hiked 400km from their home to Johannesburg to seek work
