Media24 Journalism Internship
Media24 invites applications for one-year journalism internships at its Durban and Pietermaritzburg offices.
Job Description
* Interns will be mentored on-the-job while writing articles across a variety of beats.
* Interns will be required to do research as well as his/her own and supplementary reporting.
He/she will be expected to originate story ideas.
Minimum Requirements
*Applicants must have matric and a completed qualification in media, communications or journalism.
* A clean criminal record
* A Valid driver’s licence
Flexibility and willingness to work overtime when required
Skills & Competencies
A good general knowledge
Computer literacy
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Ability to work under pressure
A sharp news sense and an ability to generate own stories suitable for the title
Duties & Responsibilities
•Investigate and research article content for news
•Write news and articles, adhering to strict deadlines;
•Create target-market-specific articles;
•Adhere to the quality , style and content standards as laid out and required by the particular publication;
•Comply with the requirements of the South African Press Code;
•Proofread articles;
•May be required to complete layout and other production-related tasks;
•May be required to take photographs; and
•May be required to produce content for online and other platforms
