The role combines cashiering, point-of-sale operations, cash handling, merchandising and general housekeeping. Successful candidates will also help promote the Clicks ClubCard programme, inform customers about promotions and maintain accurate knowledge of products and current offers so that shoppers receive helpful and reliable information.

This Clicks Wonder Park Shop Assistant / Cashier vacancy is particularly suitable for Matriculants and candidates seeking entry-level retail employment. A Grade 12 certificate is essential, while Mathematics and English results of 50% at Grade 12 level, a relevant Retail or Business Management qualification, and previous customer-facing experience will be advantageous. The successful candidates should be comfortable working with customers, handling transactions accurately, following store procedures and learning about products within the retail and FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service by providing friendly, professional and efficient assistance to shoppers.
• Act as a Clicks brand ambassador by remaining visible and approachable and helping customers find the products they need.
• Execute all point-of-sale (POS) activities accurately and efficiently within the required timeframes.
• Scan merchandise correctly and collect payments for goods purchased while maintaining a high level of transaction accuracy.
• Process and action Clicks ClubCard rewards correctly as part of customer transactions.
• Handle cash safely and responsibly in accordance with company procedures.
• Proactively promote the Clicks ClubCard and assist with enrolling new members to help the store meet its membership participation targets.
• Inform customers about current promotions, special offers, products and relevant store events.
• Support sales by helping customers understand available offers and encouraging them to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Carry out merchandising duties according to Clicks store standards and visual merchandising requirements.
• Maintain neat, attractive and well-organised product displays to improve product visibility and the overall shopping experience.
• Complete general housekeeping duties to ensure the store remains clean, orderly and ready for customers.
• Follow stock management procedures and help maintain appropriate product presentation and availability.
• Keep product knowledge up to date, including information about current ranges, promotions and new products.
• Share relevant product information with relief staff to help maintain continuity of customer service when covering duties.
• Focus on personal development to improve product knowledge, service delivery and operational performance.
• Follow store instructions, operational processes and company policies consistently.

Requirements and Skills

• Grade 12 or Matric certificate is essential.
• A Mathematics result of at least 50% at Grade 12 level will be advantageous.
• An English result of at least 50% at Grade 12 level will be advantageous.
• A relevant Retail or Business Management qualification will be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store operations environment will be advantageous.
