The Mabalanes Create A Beautiful Song to Raise Awareness On A Serious Health Condition. Many people when they think of music, they think parties, romance and just feel good type of situations. There are also songs though that carry messages that can save lives. One such is the recent single that has been released by one of Mzansi’s inspirational couple, Kabelo and Gail Mabalane.
Kabelo and Gail have created a song, with the aim to raise awareness and conversation about the Human Papillomavirus, which is commonly known as HPV. This is the name for a group of viruses that affect the skin and the moist membranes of the body. These include the cervix (entrance to the womb), anus, mouth and throat. Although HPV is hardly ever spoken about, it is very common and nearly everyone will get some form of it in their lives. The Mabalanes have decided to get conversations going with their hit single, ‘Lalela Masithi HPV.’
“We can have and spread HPV unknowingly because the virus often shows no visible signs or symptoms; and yet…..about 99 % of Cervical Cancer cases are linked to HPV infection].
So in the midst of figuring out how to craft another Bouga Luv special for this super important topic, you get to see exactly why this awareness matters so much. Even Gail is a co-pilot…. the stakes are that high!” Kabelo said.
“Given what Kabelo and I have witnessed with cancer (albeit different types) amongst family and close friends, partnering with MSD to help increase awareness and talkability at scale was a no brainer.
As can be expected from Kabelo, the song is a joyful, get-up-and-move, sing-along tune, BUT it’s really the lyrics and message that count on this one,” Gail said.
