Clicks Group is inviting applications for Pharmacist Intern positions for its 2027 intake across Clicks Johannesburg stores. This fixed-term opportunity is aimed at qualified pharmacy graduates who are ready to complete their practical training in a professional retail pharmacy environment while developing their pharmaceutical knowledge and patient care skills. The successful interns will work under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager, who acts as the Responsible Pharmacist, and will gain exposure to dispensing, pharmaceutical care, stock management, customer service and pharmacy administration. The programme is suited to candidates who are passionate about healthcare, patient wellbeing and delivering high-quality service. The role provides a valuable opportunity to move from academic study into practical pharmacy experience while working within Clicks’ established way of working. Interns will be expected to provide pharmaceutical care and dispensing services in line with applicable legislation, South African Pharmacy Council requirements and Good Pharmacy Practice. The position also involves supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the pharmacy through responsible stock management, administration and maintaining a clean and organised workspace. Candidates will have opportunities to interact directly with patients and customers while building their professional communication and counselling skills. The internship also provides exposure to the wider health and wellness offering available within Clicks stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional pharmaceutical care and provide accurate dispensing services within the legal scope of practice and under appropriate supervision.
- Provide patients and customers with relevant pharmaceutical advice and counselling within the legal boundaries set by the South African Pharmacy Council.
- Support the Pharmacy Manager and wider pharmacy team with day-to-day dispensary activities.
- Follow Clicks ways of working, Good Pharmacy Practice requirements and applicable pharmacy legislation.
- Assist with maintaining accurate and effective stock management processes.
- Support the control and management of stock, costs, risks and compliance within the pharmacy.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional pharmacy workspace.
- Complete relevant pharmacy administration accurately and efficiently.
- Contribute to customer service initiatives and help create a positive and memorable customer experience.
- Promote Clicks ClubCard participation and support customer engagement initiatives.
- Work together with the clinic and healthcare aisle to provide customers with a more comprehensive healthcare solution.
- Support the delivery of health and beauty services in a way that reflects Clicks’ customer-focused approach.
- Maintain professional and ethical conduct when dealing with patients, customers, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- Follow established instructions, policies and procedures.
- Contribute to meeting customer expectations and achieving required pharmacy service standards.

Requirements and Skills
- Candidates must have completed a B Pharm qualification.
- Applicants must be registered as Pharmacist Interns with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Candidates must be South African citizens.
- No previous work experience is required for the internship.
- Knowledge of SAPC requirements and relevant pharmacy legislation is essential.
- A strong understanding of ethical working practices and compliance is important.
- Knowledge of stock, cost, risk and compliance management procedures is required.
