The Trainee: Talent Analyst opportunity at TFG provides a strong starting point for a graduate interested in building a career in Human Resources, talent management or people analytics. The role combines data-focused responsibilities with stakeholder interaction, giving the successful candidate exposure to both the analytical and people-oriented aspects of talent management. Over the 12-month fixed-term contract, the trainee will have an opportunity to develop practical knowledge while supporting real Talent Management activities within the organisation.
Working with talent data will be a central part of the role. The trainee will track information, update dashboards and reports, check for missing or incorrect data and support monthly and ad hoc reporting requirements. Accuracy will be particularly important because talent information can influence reporting, decision-making and the effectiveness of broader people management processes.
The position also provides exposure to a range of Talent Management processes, including goals, performance management, talent reviews, career development and job profiles. By building working knowledge of the relevant Talent Management modules, the successful candidate will gain an understanding of how systems and processes support the organisation’s approach to developing and managing its people. This experience can provide a useful foundation for future roles in HR operations, talent management, HR analytics or related fields.
Stakeholder support will form another important part of the trainee’s responsibilities. The successful candidate will gather information from HR Business Partners and managers, respond to basic queries, support meetings and check-ins, and track actions and feedback. Strong communication, professionalism and confidence will therefore be essential when interacting with different stakeholders across the organisation.
The role also encourages continual improvement. The trainee will review process maps and guides, record recurring system issues and share observations and ideas that may improve processes. Candidates should therefore be curious and willing to question inefficient processes constructively while remaining committed to following established procedures and maintaining data accuracy.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills will be particularly useful because the position involves reporting, tracking and working with large volumes of data. Candidates should be comfortable analysing information, identifying discrepancies and presenting accurate updates to stakeholders. Attention to detail, planning and organisation will help the successful candidate manage multiple reporting deadlines, system tasks and stakeholder requests.
TFG is looking for a candidate who demonstrates ethical conduct, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility. The role also values entrepreneurial thinking, perseverance, continual improvement and the ability to communicate ideas clearly to different audiences. These behaviours can help the trainee contribute positively while developing the confidence needed to work effectively in a large, fast-paced organisation.
The Trainee: Talent Analyst position is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract and is based on-site in the Western Cape. Candidates should ensure that they meet the relevant qualification requirements and are comfortable working with data, systems and internal stakeholders. The opportunity is particularly suitable for someone who wants to turn academic knowledge into practical experience while developing specialist skills in talent management and HR analytics.
Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act. Applicants who are interested in gaining practical exposure to Talent Management, reporting, HR systems and people analytics are encouraged to apply. The role can provide valuable experience for candidates who want to develop their careers in Human Resources while strengthening their analytical, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
