Pam Andrews On Why She Left Pop Group 101

Pam Andrews On Why She Left Pop Group 101. Back in 2002, Pamela Andrews became a household name after winning Coca-Cola Popstars competition. The pioneering reality TV singing competition launched several successful pop and R&B groups in the early 2000s. Pam won together with other individuals, Erin Samson, Ntumiseng Mokhasipe, Preston Sihlangu, and Kurt Herman. All of them went on to become stars, and some are still doing well in the industry today.
Winning the competition was a dream come true for Pam, who always wanted to make it big. The perks of winning were so amazing, as 101 became the hottest thing around. The group got to travel all over, grace magazine covers, perform at major events and making money whilst at it. They also got cars and major retail stores sponsored their clothing. Sadly, the group that many youngsters looked up to broke up. Everyone went their own way to do their own thing.
For Pam, the whole attention they got overwhelmed her. Just the thought of screaming fans, signing autographs, and the attention depressed her and she had anxiety. Pam didn’t tell anyone what she was going through, including her family or group members. She continued to be the wild one in the group, but finally she couldn’t no more. Pam started hating the whole thing, she didn’t want to do rehearsals, performances and all of that.
Pam then started going back to as ad old habit, cutting herself. She though showing her manager the scars will get her excused from the group. The manager was livid, asking her to cover the marks up,as she was about to do an interview. Pam felt like leaving, but she was the breadwinner, and that was no option. It went to a point where she was suicidal, and almost took her life. Luckily someone came at the right time, and talked some sense into her, regarding her career.
The next day, the producers had a meeting with the group. They complained about Pam not pulling in the weight, and missing at rehearsals. Pam then dropped a bombshell, telling everyone that she was exiting 101. After a week, she made an official press release that she was leaving the group. Immediately after that another door opened, and Pam got a role in Backstage, playing Frankie. She them went on to join Rhythm City as Gail October.
