Trainee (Service Department) Opportunity at Motus Toyota Cape Gate

Motus Corporation is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Trainee to join the Service Department at Toyota Cape Gate in Cape Town, Western Cape. This six-month contract opportunity is suited to someone who wants to gain practical experience in the automotive service environment while developing valuable customer service, administration and coordination skills. The successful candidate will assist Service Department staff with daily administrative and customer support responsibilities while receiving practical training. The Trainee will help coordinate activities between service advisors, technicians, foremen and customers to support an efficient service process. The position requires someone who can maintain high service standards while managing several tasks in a busy dealership environment. You will also assist with vehicle bookings, service updates, quotations, parts follow-ups and other operational responsibilities. Good communication, attention to detail and a willingness to learn will be important throughout the six-month training period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Service Department with daily administrative and customer support duties.
  • Coordinate workflow between service advisors, foremen, technicians and customers.
  • Keep customers updated regarding service bookings and vehicle progress.
  • Communicate effectively with all Service Department staff.
  • Ensure vehicles are parked correctly outside at the start of the day.
  • Make sure vehicle keys are secured in the designated key safe.
  • Ensure job cards are signed off by technicians.
  • Assist technicians with quotations and ensure requests are handled promptly.
  • Provide support to the Controller, Foreman, Service Manager and Service Receptionist.
  • Follow up on parts ordered for the workshop.
  • Book vehicles into the Service Department.
  • Record and report vehicle comebacks.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Promote and follow workplace health and safety standards.
  • Assist with selling accessories and additional work.
  • Prepare quotations for authorisation.
  • Help maintain a professional customer experience throughout the service process.
  • Assist with other Service Department duties as required by management.

Requirements and Skills

  • Grade 12 or Matric.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Good organisational skills.
