Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Health Merchandiser to join its Vaal Mall store in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. The Health Merchandiser will support the daily operation of the store by managing merchandise presentation, replenishment, stock rotation and customer queries. Attention to detail is important because products need to be correctly positioned, labelled and priced while stock must be rotated using the First In First Out principle. The role also requires regular interaction with customers, management and colleagues. A professional attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work according to established procedures will be important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Restock merchandise according to business requirements.
  • Ensure delivered stock and stock pulled from the storeroom are stored and packed in the correct locations.
  • Ensure the full range of products is available on shelves whenever possible.
  • Rotate stock regularly according to the First In First Out principle.
  • Assist with general stocktaking activities.
  • Ensure front shop shelves and products are neatly presented and clearly visible.
  • Check that product labels and pricing are correct.
  • Build, face up, stock and maintain merchandising displays.
  • Maintain the daily physical presentation of the store and merchandise displays.
  • Take responsibility for designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor.
  • Assist with back shopping activities.
  • Provide customers with friendly, helpful and professional assistance.
  • Respond to customer stock queries and work towards resolving them efficiently.
  • Support the store team with general merchandising activities.
  • Follow Dis-Chem merchandising standards and operational procedures.
  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping and product presentation.
  • Handle merchandise carefully and responsibly.
  • Follow health and safety requirements when performing stock and merchandising duties.

Requirements and Skills

  • Grade 12 or Matric.
  • Up to six months of retail experience.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office.
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
  • Diploma or degree in a health-focused category will be advantageous.
  • At least one year of retail experience will be advantageous.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Presentable and professional appearance.
  • Effective communication with customers, management and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Trustworthy and honest approach to work.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow merchandising and stock control procedures.
  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry will be advantageous.
  • Product and category knowledge will be advantageous.
  • Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking will be advantageous.
  • SAP knowledge will be advantageous.
  • Unisolv knowledge will be advantageous.
  • Bilingual communication skills will be advantageous.
  • Ability to identify and report suspicious behaviour involving staff or customers.
