Shop Assistant / Cashier Opportunity at Clicks Sunninghill Village

Clicks Group is looking for two Shop Assistants / Cashiers to join its Sunninghill Village store in Sandton, Gauteng. This permanent retail opportunity is suited to customer-focused individuals who enjoy working with people and want to develop their careers in the FMCG, health and beauty retail sector. The successful candidates will support point-of-sale operations, customer service, merchandising and general store activities while helping create a positive shopping experience. The Shop Assistant / Cashier will play an important role in ensuring that customer transactions are handled efficiently and accurately. You will process purchases, handle payments, promote Clicks ClubCard and inform customers about current promotions. The role also requires you to support merchandising and housekeeping standards while maintaining good product knowledge. A professional attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure will be important.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute all point-of-sale activities accurately and within required timeframes.
• Scan merchandise correctly and process customer purchases.
• Collect customer payments and handle cash safely.
• Process Clicks ClubCard rewards accurately.
• Promote Clicks ClubCard and encourage customers to register as members.
• Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
• Explain promotional benefits to customers to enhance their shopping experience.
• Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
• Act as a positive and visible Clicks brand ambassador.
• Maintain a customer-focused approach throughout every interaction.
• Support merchandising activities according to store and visual merchandising standards.
• Maintain clean, organised and customer-ready store areas.
• Follow stock management and merchandising procedures.
• Keep up to date with products, ranges, promotions and events.
• Provide customers with accurate product information.
• Follow Clicks policies, procedures and operational standards.
• Support the Group’s vision of being the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer.
• Demonstrate Clicks Group values in interactions with customers and colleagues.
• Assist with other store duties as required by management.

Requirements and Skills

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Grade 12 Mathematics at 50% will be advantageous.
• Grade 12 English at 50% will be advantageous.
• Previous customer-facing experience within a retail or FMCG store environment will be advantageous.
• Basic mathematical and numeracy skills.
• Understanding of retail and FMCG operations.
• Knowledge of merchandising and promotional principles.
• Understanding of stock management procedures.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Good planning and organising skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
