Shop Assistant / Cashier Opportunity at Clicks Nedbank Plaza KwaZulu-Natal

Clicks Group is looking for a Shop Assistant / Cashier to join its Nedbank Plaza store in KwaZulu-Natal. This permanent retail opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys working with customers, has strong attention to detail and wants to develop a career in the FMCG and health and beauty retail industry. The successful candidate will support point-of-sale operations, customer service, merchandising and general store activities while helping create a positive shopping experience. The role requires someone who can process customer transactions accurately, handle payments responsibly and communicate confidently with shoppers. You will also help customers understand promotions, promote the Clicks ClubCard programme and maintain high standards across the store. A willingness to learn about Clicks products and promotions will help you provide accurate information and deliver better customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute all point-of-sale activities efficiently and accurately.
- Scan merchandise correctly and process customer purchases.
- Collect payments and handle cash safely at all times.
- Process Clicks ClubCard rewards accurately during customer transactions.
- Promote the Clicks ClubCard and encourage customers to become members.
- Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
- Help customers understand promotional benefits and savings.
- Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
- Act as a positive Clicks brand ambassador.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence in the store.
- Keep up to date with products, product ranges, promotions and events.
- Provide customers with accurate product information when required.
- Support merchandising activities according to store and visual merchandising standards.
- Maintain clean, organised and customer-ready store areas.
- Follow stock management and merchandising procedures.
- Assist with general housekeeping duties.
- Follow Clicks policies, procedures and operational standards.
- Support the Clicks vision of becoming the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer.
- Demonstrate Clicks Group values in daily interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Assist with other store activities as required by management.
Requirements and Skills
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Grade 12 Mathematics at 50% will be advantageous.
- Grade 12 English at 50% will be advantageous.
- Previous customer-facing experience in a retail or FMCG environment will be advantageous.
- Basic mathematical and numeracy skills.
- Understanding of retail and FMCG operations.
- Knowledge of merchandising and promotional principles.
- Understanding of stock management procedures.
