Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Shop Assistant / Cashier will help deliver service excellence through efficient point-of-sale activities, customer engagement and merchandising. The role requires accuracy when processing transactions, handling cash and applying Clicks ClubCard rewards. Successful candidates will also assist with promotions, product knowledge and general store presentation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Execute all point-of-sale activities efficiently and within required timeframes.
• Scan merchandise accurately and process customer purchases correctly.
• Collect customer payments and handle cash safely.
• Process Clicks ClubCard rewards accurately during transactions.
• Promote Clicks ClubCard and assist with registering new members.
• Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
• Help customers understand promotional benefits and savings.
• Deliver friendly, professional and efficient customer service.
• Act as a visible and positive Clicks brand ambassador.
• Assist with merchandising according to store and visual merchandising standards.
• Maintain clean, organised and customer-ready store areas.
• Keep up to date with products, ranges, promotions and events.
• Provide customers with accurate product information.
• Develop personal product knowledge to maintain continuity of service.
• Share relevant product information with relief staff when required.
• Support stock management and merchandising procedures.
• Follow company policies, procedures and operational standards.

Requirements and Skills

Applicants must meet the following essential requirement:

• Grade 12 qualification.

The following will be advantageous:

• Mathematics at 50% at Grade 12 level.
• English at 50% at Grade 12 level.
• Relevant Retail or Business Management qualification.
• Experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store environment.

Candidates should also demonstrate:
