Ster-Kinekor Theatres is looking for a Multi Skilled Employee to join its Tygervalley cinema team in Cape Town, Western Cape. This permanent entry-level opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, thrives in a busy entertainment environment and is willing to perform different cinema-related duties. The successful candidate may work as a cashier, cinema assistant, waiter, popcorn operator or support other functions as required by the supervisor. The Multi Skilled Employee will contribute to creating a positive experience for every guest while supporting the smooth daily operation of the cinema. You will need to move between different areas of the business, maintain product and presentation standards and follow food safety, health and safety procedures. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a cashier at Box Office Sales, Catering Sales or Collections when required.
- Assist customers as a Cinema Assistant, Waiter, Popper or in other cinema functions assigned by a supervisor.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ster-Kinekor products, promotions and marketing activities.
- Use product knowledge to identify opportunities to upsell to guests.
- Ensure cinema presentation standards are maintained at all times.
- Check that age restriction notices are correctly displayed.
- Keep synopsis files updated and ensure posters are neat and current.
- Maintain food, beverage and product displays according to company standards.
- Ensure required disclaimers are updated and clearly visible.
- Prepare popcorn, slush and other products according to established quality standards.
- Report any deviations from required product quality standards.
- Assist with shift preparation in assigned areas.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of Ster-Kinekor products.
- Ensure guests receive a positive experience that is not compromised by poor product quality or presentation.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance throughout each shift.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner as a representative of Ster-Kinekor.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, counters, equipment and surrounding areas.
- Keep storerooms organised and in line with required standards.
- Ensure fumigation takes place when required.
- Seal, package and store prepared products correctly.
- Complete and submit health and safety reports according to required schedules.
- Wear the correct uniform and follow preparation standards to maintain personal and workplace safety.
- Assist supervisors and colleagues with other operational duties when required.
Requirements and Skills
- Matric certificate.
- 0 to 1 year of work experience in a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- VISTA or MYCC experience will be advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good analytical ability.
