Job Overview

The Multi Skilled Employee will support daily cinema operations by assisting customers and ensuring that all service areas operate efficiently. The role requires flexibility, as employees may be assigned to different functions depending on operational needs. These responsibilities may include working at the box office, catering areas, collections, cinema floors or other assigned sections.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining Ster-Kinekor’s service standards while ensuring guests receive a positive and enjoyable cinema experience. Strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure are important for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as a cashier at Box Office Sales, Catering Sales or Collections as required.
• Assist guests as a Cinema Assistant, waiter, popper or in other cinema functions.
• Maintain updated knowledge of Ster-Kinekor products, promotions and marketing activities to support upselling opportunities.
• Ensure customers receive professional and friendly service at all times.
• Maintain presentation standards, including age restriction displays, posters, product displays and promotional materials.
• Keep cinema information materials such as synopsis files updated and organised.
• Prepare popcorn, slush drinks and other food products according to Ster-Kinekor quality standards.
• Report any quality issues or deviations from required standards.
• Assist with shift preparation and operational tasks in assigned areas.
• Maintain product quality and protect the integrity of Ster-Kinekor products.
• Ensure personal presentation standards are maintained at all times.
• Represent Ster-Kinekor professionally, understanding that employee actions reflect the company’s reputation.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchens, equipment, counters and surrounding areas.
• Ensure storerooms remain organised and meet required standards.
• Assist with proper storage, packaging and sealing of prepared products.
• Complete health and safety reports according to required schedules.
• Follow correct uniform and preparation standards to ensure personal safety and the safety of colleagues and customers.
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors when required.

Requirements and Skills

• Matric certificate.
• 0 to 1 year work experience in a similar customer service, retail or hospitality role.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with VISTA or MYCC systems will be advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with customers.
• Good administrative and organisational abilities.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to adapt to different tasks and operational requirements.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation and service standards.
