Job Overview
The Receiving Intern supports the logistics and receiving function by ensuring all incoming goods are correctly verified, inspected, and recorded. You will work with purchase orders, invoices, and delivery documents to confirm accuracy and compliance. The role includes inspecting deliveries, coordinating offloading, and updating inventory systems. You will also assist with handling returns, non conformance reporting, and communication with suppliers and internal departments. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Compare purchase orders with invoices and packing lists
• Inspect deliveries to confirm accuracy and quality
• Receive and sign for incoming goods
• Coordinate unloading of delivery trucks
• Inspect goods for damage or non compliance
• Process returns for incorrect or faulty items
• Organise and store received stock in designated areas
• Update inventory systems with received items
• Communicate delays or issues with procurement teams
• Manage non conformance reports and supplier follow ups
• Label and allocate deliveries correctly in storage areas
• Maintain accurate records of all receiving activities
• Prepare and distribute Goods Received Notes reports daily
• Ensure compliance with receiving procedures and standards
Requirements And Skills
• Grade 12 (Matric) is required
• Certificate or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain or Finance related field is an advantage
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Basic computer literacy and data entry skills
• Ability to follow structured processes
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced warehouse environment
• Problem solving ability when dealing with discrepancies
• Team oriented mindset with willingness to learn
• Basic understanding of inventory or logistics processes is beneficial
