Role Summary
As a General Worker, you support daily warehouse operations. You will handle stock movement, assist with order picking and ensure goods are stored correctly. You will also help maintain system accuracy and warehouse cleanliness. Your work directly impacts delivery speed and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Binning and Receiving
- Receive incoming stock and verify deliveries
- Bin merchandise according to standard warehouse procedures
- Allocate new stock to correct bin locations
- Update bin locations when stock is moved or reassigned
- Report discrepancies or issues to supervisors
- Assist with replenishing stock in picking areas
Picking Operations
- Pick customer and branch orders accurately
- Meet order cut-off times for timely dispatch
- Use bulk stock only when required and authorised
- Follow picking procedures to prevent stock damage or loss
- Assist during stock takes and cycle counts
- Maintain daily accuracy in order fulfilment
- Support housekeeping in picking areas
Scanner Control
- Issue scanners to warehouse staff daily
- Record scanner usage using the electronic system
- Receive and inspect returned scanners for damage
- Report damaged equipment to supervisors immediately
- Update scanner tracking spreadsheets daily
General Warehouse Duties
- Maintain clean and safe working areas
- Follow all operational instructions from supervisors
- Assist with stock organisation and movement
- Support loss prevention through accurate handling of goods
- Ensure consistent compliance with warehouse procedures
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 / Matric is essential
Experience
- Previous warehouse or retail stock handling experience is an advantage
