Lady Du Marks the 1st Anniversary of Her Father’s Passing In A Touching Post. One thing about grief, you can never fully get over it. There are things like memories and milestones, that always take you back to the time the loss was still fresh.
Lady Du, who lost her father a year ago, understands this very well. Her father who was popularly known as DJ Choc Ngwenya, died at the age of 51. As per his name explains, DJ Choc was also in the music industry, and sometimes worked alongside his famous daughter. When announcing his death a year ago, Lady Du described her father as a pioneer, as story teller as well as a pillar in the community. Adding on, the award winning musician and entrepreneur , spoke of her father’s influence which has stretched across generations and different genres.
A year has passed, and grief still remains. To his loved ones, it feels like just yesterday when they lost him. In a touching post, Lady Du stated that she thinks about her father everyday
“One year today, and somehow it still feels like it just happened yesterday.
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think of you, Dad. The world kept moving, but a part of mine stood still the day you left. I still find myself wanting to call you, to hear your voice, to share the little things only you would understand.
Grief doesn’t get smaller we just learn how to carry it. And I carry you with me in everything I do. In my thoughts, in my choices, in the person I’m becoming.
I miss you more than words could ever explain.
