Dr Leleti Khumalo Gushes Over Her New Title. We have a new Dr in the block, and we are so excited for her. On Wednesday 25th of March, Leleti Khumalo got honored with a Honorary Doctorate (LLD) from Rhodes University.
The honorary doctorate is in recognition of her profound contribution to South African theatre, film and television, and for her enduring role in using storytelling to illuminate the social realities of the country. Across more than three decades, the multi-award winning actress’ performances have brought global attention to South African history, identity and resilience.
Despite decades in the industry, Leleti is still relevant and getting all the necessary recognition she deserves. Getting an honorary doctorate, just goes on to show that her work is still appreciated. Leleti takes this a big honor, more so since she never thought at some point in her life, she will get the title. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rhodes University for the massive recognition. Congratulations Queen!
