Babes Wodumo Celebrates Turning A Year Older With Immense Gratitude. Today marks a very special even in Babes Wodumo life. The Queen Of Gqom and reality show star, is turning 32 years old, and she took to social media to let her online family know.
“1+ π kuzalwa indlovukazi ye Gqom namhlanje.Jehovah ngiyabonga ππ½π«ΆπΎβ€οΈ,” Babes announced.
Bongekile Mildred Simelane, prominently known as Babes Wodumo, was born 25 March 1994. She went on to make a name for herself as a singer-songwriter and choreographer. Babes Wodumo rose to fame following the release of her debut album Gqom Queen, Vol. 1 (2016) and furthermore subsequently being nominated at the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act.
Over the years we have seen Babes Wodumo grow and position herself as a sought after musician. She is a part of the music connoisseurs who were pivotal in influencing the gqom genre’s international acclaim. Babes also appeared on the Black Panther: The Album compilation by Kendrick Lamar on a song titled “Redemption“. In 2017, she was nominated for the BET Award for Best International Act: Africa. In July 2020, she released her second album Idando Kazi which included the hit song,“eLamont” featuring Mampintsha (former Big Nuz member) as well as Skillz.
As much as we celebrate her as a musician, Babes has also had it rough in her personal life. Her relationship with her late husband Mampintsha, always trended for the wrong reasons. The two dragged each other on social media with issues of domestic violence, infidelity and so forth. Somehow, they always managed to reconcile and get back together.
